OYOGist.com has learned that the Nigerian Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed has reportedly stated that the federal government would reopen the closed land borders soon.
The minister made this information known during an interview with the State House correspondents on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mrs. Zainab said that the Presidential Committee on the Border Closure has finished its investigations and has recommended the reopening of the Nigerian borders.
She noted that the committee is yet to submit its formal reports to the President after which a formal announcement would made on the border reopening issue.
The Nigerian authorities had earlier closed down its land borders in a bid to develop and boost the morale and production capacity of the Nigerian local manufacturers.
However, the border closure was reported to have seriously affected the economy of Nigeria’s Neighboring West African countries.
