According to Reports reaching Oyogist.com, Amazon Chief Executive Officer, Jeff Bezos has commenced distribution of his $10 Billion Global Earth Fund.
Bezo’s also announced the first recipients of the Fund.The Earth Fund, which was launched earlier in February, is designed to combat the effects of climate change by issuing grants to scientists, activists and other organizations in their efforts to “preserve and protect the natural world.” He said.
There were 16 initial recipients of the Earth Fund who will receive $791 million in donations, including The Nature Conservancy, Natural Resources Defense Council, Environmental Defense Fund, World Resources Institute and the World Wildlife Fund, which will each receive $100 million.
The $791 million worth of grants issued Monday is “just the beginning” of the Earth Fund’s $10 billion commitment, Bezos said in an Instagram post.
