OYOGist.com has learned that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), has warned its customers and also the local electricians within its jurisdiction against illegal connections and energy theft.

This was made known by the IBEDC regional communication officer, Mr. Frank Williams, during a chat with Noble FM’s correspondent, Micheal Oladejo, stating that illegal connections remains one of the biggest challenges faced by the electricity distribution company.

Mr. Frank also noted that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company in conjunction with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) would not hesitate to prosecute any customer found engaging in illegal electricity connection within its operations.

Mr. Williams who noted that the distribution company had done everything within its power to ensure that residents enjoy stable lights, maintained that some enemies of progress are still sabotaging the efforts of the Disco and the federal government at fixing power challenges in the country.

The IBEDC spokesperson, however, warned customers who were in habit of connecting electricity illegally to desist as the act was a major source of leakages and commercial losses to the company.
