According to report reaching OYOGist.com, the Federal Minister for Labour and Employment and former Governor of Anambra state, Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige who is also the Leader of APC in Southeast has given hope to the call for the south to produce the next president of Nigeria after the tenure of President Buhari in 2023.
Ngige made his position known when some press men met him at his home town at Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra state.
The Labour Minister who was also a one time senator, maintained that there is a gentlemen agreement that presidency will move from north to south, which he said started since 1999.
He narrated how Dr Peter Odili of River state who was backed by majority of his party members in 2007 was compelled to step down and support a candidate from the north.
Ngige also said it was this gentleman agreement between the north and south that made the southeast APC refuse to support Rochas Okorocha in 2015 presidential primaries.
The Igbo leader was confident that when the time comes, the issue of which region will produce the next president will be discussed.
