The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has told people that “no Governor controls the rules of engagement of the Army.”
Sanwo-Olu revealed this in a statement on its Official Twitter handle, a day after several protesters were killed and many injured at the Lekki toll gate, by men suspected to be officers of the Nigerian Military.
Following the incident, angry Youths has expressed their disgust over the killings, with many pointing fingers at Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu said:
“For clarity, it is imperative to explain that no governor controls the rules of engagement of the army.
“I have nevertheless instructed an investigation into the ordered and the adopted rules of engagement employed by the men of the Nigerian Army deployed to the Lekki Toll Gate.”
