Another Liverpool player has tested positive for coronavirus. Naby Keita becomes the fourth player from the Reds camp to do so. Naby Keita is the latest Liverpool player to return a positive coronavirus test, oyogist.com reports.
The Reds midfielder picked up the virus while on international duty. He is the third player from the squad to test positive in quick succession. The fourth in total for the Reds this season.
Keita is the latest after Thiago Alcantara and Sadio Mane recently tested positive as well.
The news has been reported by Guinean journalist Usher Komugisha, but is yet to be confirmed by the Guinea national team or Liverpool.
On top of the tests, Liverpool are also without goalkeeper Alisson through an injury that he picked up on the training ground.
It creates a selection headache for manager Jurgen Klopp for the first game back after the international break. They take on Merseyside rivals and current Premier League leaders Everton.
Further frustration will be raised at the fact a busier international break was squeezed in amongst the backdrop of the pandemic.
Keita has been a key figure to the Liverpool side this season, featuring in every single Premier League game so far.
But now he will self-isolate before he is allowed to return to action – meaning Klopp will have to rotate his midfield.
The good news is that both Thiago and Mane are expected to be back in action following their quarantine periods.
