Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has stated it categorically, that his government will build a world class hotel in Akure, the state capital, in his second term in office, oyogist.com reports.
Governor Akeredolu revealed this today at a programme organized for him to talk to the people in respect of what his government will do if re-elected.
Among other things, the governor stressed that Ondo State is the most blessed amongst the states in the country in term of human and natural resources. He said his government is ready to tap all the potentials these resources can offer through inter- and intra- active participation between the government and the people of the state during his second term in office.
The governor said his government has done very much work on the Owena Dam to the extent that within a period of one year in office the electorate will start to enjoy good pipe borne water in the near communities to the dam.
While fielding questions from the electorates present at the programme, the governor said he discovered that the hospitality business is not of high quality in the state. Some of the expatriates working in Ondo State prefer to journey to Port Harcourt by helicopter after a day’s work because that is where they believe they can access quality rest after a hard day job. With a standard hotel in town, the revenue accruable from it will further boost the state’s IGR.
The governor, who expressed his unhappiness over the way the Owena Motel belonging to the state was sold off by one of the past government in the state, said the motel can not be repurchased or retrieved from the buyers because of the way and the circumstances surrounding its sale. It is better to build another hotel that will be of high quality in the state capital. A project the governor said shall be done within the first year of his re-election.
