As the menace of the Species Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police Force has continued to terrorize the youths, causing to youths to take to social media to demand the abolishment of the notorious group, #ENDSARS has drawn a lot of attention with Afro-beats star, Wizkid Ayo lending his voice.

The #ENDSars campaign reached its peak on Twitter when 5 of the top trending topics centered around the activities of the SARS operatives after a viral video of SARS officers shooting an unarmed person went viral.

OYOGist.com recalls that the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had earlier today tweeted that appropriate action would be taken concerning the activities of the group.

“The safety of our residents is my number one duty as the CSO of Lagos,” the Governor tweeted. “So, reading reports of seemingly unlawful exploitation by the people charged to protect is very worrying & needs to be addressed immediately. Be assured that appropriate actions will be taken, & speedily too,” Sanwo-Olu said on Twitter.

Hours later, the musician charged him to “do something let’s be proud of you too abeg!” And ended his tweet with the popular #ENDSARS hashtag.

The #ENDSARS hashtag has become a rallying cry and a tool to expose the daily oppression meted out on Nigerian youths by the notorious arm of the police known as SARS.

Many videos of recent occurrences have shown outright extra-judicial killings, kidnappings for ransom and false accusations carried out by the groups on Nigerian youths, causing most of the nation’s young population to live in fear.

Several calls to the President, Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo have yielded no results.

Governor Sanwo-Olu is one of the few political leaders and only ruling leader that has reacted to the matter, even as it trends nationwide.
