The Governor of Lagos State, H.E Babajide Sanwo-olu has on Wednesday held a virtual meeting with the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria, where he discussed the impact of the COVID-19 on the entertainment industry.
The Governor expressed his solidarity with businesses in the industry and promised to work with the stakeholders towards a safe reopening, OYOGist.com reports.
“At a virtual meeting with the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria today, I expressed solidarity with the stakeholders in the creative and entertainment industry following the impact of COVID-19 on their sector,” Sanwo-Olu tweeted.
While promising to work collaboratively to put measures in place to reopen the sector, he expressed that the government has to do what is right to protect the lives of the citizens.
“I promised that we will work collaboratively as we put in place measures to open the sector for business. I am aware of the challenges they are facing. While we balance work and life, we have to do what is right to protect the lives of Lagosians,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
The COVID-19 pandemic, which was declared a global pandemic on the 11th of March, has forced governments across the world to take hard-hitting measures to curtail the spread of the disease. Since then, several sectors of the economy have been hit adversely.
