Chelsea have been by far and away the most active Premier League side in the transfer window this summer.
The Blues who haven’t spent any money in the previous two windows and are bankrolled by the recent sales of Eden Hazard and Alvaro Morata, are now in a great position to flex their financial muscle.
And so far, that is certainly what they have done.
Chelsea would sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax back in February for £33.3m.
Frank Lampard and co. then snapped up long-time Liverpool target Timo Werner for £45m in June.
All of these new faces, combined with Chelsea’s already promising squad filled with top academy talents should, on paper, lead to the Blues having a great shot at mounting a title challenge in 2020/21.
The Londoners would finish a staggering 33 points off league modafinil winners Liverpool last time out and 15 points of Manchester City.
But with Chelsea bringing in so many highly-rated talents of late, surely they should be able to close the gap on Liverpool significantly, especially given the Reds have signed just one player so far this summer.
One person who doesn’t believe that will happen though, is Jamie Carragher.
The former Liverpool defender recently stated that he still sees Liverpool and Manchester City as the sides who will be competing for the title next season, with the gap too big for either of Chelsea or Manchester United to bridge:
“I still see it as Liverpool and City.
“There is too big a gap to bridge for Chelsea and United to gain 25, 30 points.”
