The Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare on Friday declared that the federal government has approved vocational training for 5,000 youths in the state.
He said President Mohammodu Buhari has also given a marching order for contractors working on the federal government roads in Oyo state to return to site.
The Minister who spoke during his visit to the palace of Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji as part of the 92nd birthday celebration of the Monarch said the covid 19 pandemic has affected the laid down programms of the federal government, but however noted that work has commenced across the sectors of the economy.
The Minister said; “First of all, I want to seek for forgiveness from the Olubadan of Ibadan land and my father, because since I became a Minister of sport and youth development a year ago, I have not visited him. It is true that we have spoken and I have sent some people to you but this is the first time I am visiting you. Sir, it is now six months that covid 19 entered Nigeria. That was part of the reasons we didn’t visits you, therefore forgive me. I, your son, Sunday Akinlabi Dare from Ogbomosho wish to greet you once more on your 92nd birthday. May you live long sir!”
“I want to thank President Mohammodu Buhari for given me the opportunity to serve in his cabinet from my dear state, Oyo state. Sir, because of the covid 19, all the laid down programmes of our president was stopped. But since last three weeks, he has been approving our programmes.
“President Buhari has given us approval to start all the federal roads in Oyo state and Saki water works as part of the effort of the immediate past Minister from Oyo state, Barrister Adebayo Shittu. The work has started. Also, if you recall, when I became a minister, you sent some youths to me for employment, but today we have received approval to train 5,000 youths in the state. I want the palace to nominate one person to liaise with my office and myself to carry out the programme.”
