Recall that kaduna state Governor, El-Rufai was restricted from speaking or addressing people at the conference because of his inability to stop incessant killings in kaduna state. The Muslim rights concern has faulted NBA’s decision to drop El-Rufai from the list of speakers at its 2020 annual conference meeting, oyogist.com reports.
Earlier this morning, 23 August The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) said it has uncovered a subterranean attempt by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) to replace Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State with the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum.
The annual meeting conference which will be hold from 25th to 29th of August. MURIC has called on northern Muslim lawyers to stop the annual meeting and warned the NBA against any attempt to cause confusion between Nigerian Muslims.
According to the Statement released on Sunday and penned by its director, prof. Ishaq Akintola, said the NBA’s decision to remove Gov El-Rufai from the list of speakers at its conference with Governor Zulum has already failed. The plan of the group to separate Muslims of the South from their fellow brothers in the north has failed and it will never work.
The hadith describes Muslims as a single building wherein all parts of the structure support one another or as the anatomy of a man in whom all other parts feel the pain whenever a single part suffers dislocation. Our message to NBA is this: You cannot honour a Muslim to add salt to the injury of another Muslim.
According to the press, ” NBA wants to rob Peter to pay Paul but the plan has failed and backfired as some northern states have already withdraw themselves from the fast-approaching annual meeting conference which is billed to hold from 25th to 29th of August. The decisions to remove Gov El-Rufai from the list of speakers is wrong and states including Bauchi, Jigawa, Kaduna will pull out of the conference. Their advice to the NBA leadership is to do the needful and write a letter of apology to El-Rufai and re-invite him. El-Rufai has been unjustly treated and it is extremely immoral to ask El-Rufai not to attend the virtual meeting conference.”
MURIC also decried the inclusion of Governor Nyesom Wike in the list of speakers at the conference, adding, “NBA has no business inviting Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to speak at its conference. Wike’s excesses are legend. When it comes to democratic norms, Wike is a square peg, NBA is a round hole. Wike and NBA should not be seen together.
According to MURIC, Gov. Wike is not a law-abiding person as he violated laws in the constitution in the past, stressing what NBA have to do with a Governor who declared his state a Christian state contrary to Section 10 of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. They also reminded the group how governor wike demolished Prudent hotel, Alode in Eleme and Etemeteh hotel in Onne on 10th May, 2020, it should served as a warning to NBA.
