Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson bid farewell to Sheffield United in the week after revealing that he will not be at Bramall Lane next season.
The goalkeeper enjoyed a fruitful two-year loan spell over in Shelffield and has played a crucial role in their promotion to the Premier League and an impressive ninth-placed finish during the 2019/20 season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to stick with United’s first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea despite his recent dip in form but it seems Henderson is in line for a new contract that could see him become number 2, knocking on the door.
The Norwegian also admitted that there is not enough space in the squad for De Gea, Sergio Romero and Henderson and the former Blades man might be loaned out for another season.
Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Dean Henderson on a new £100,000-a-week contract.
Henderson wrote on social media:“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Sheffield United for the last two years.
“Winning promotion to the Premier League with my brothers and having the season we had this season is something I will never forget.
“I would like to thank the manager, my team-mates, the backroom staff and, of course, the fans, who have been unbelievable towards me.
“I will look back at the last two years as an important chapter in my career and more than anything, I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to learn and develop with such a class group of lads.
“I can’t wait for the next chapter! Once again, thank you for everything! Once a Blade, always a blade!”
