United remain in talks with Borussia Dortmund about a deal for Jadon Sancho ut progress has slowed. Dortmund are refusing to budge from their £108million asking price, a fee the Red Devils feel is unrealistic.
Indeed, Dortmund officials have expressed their confidence in recent weeks that the winger will stay this summer.
As for potential other recruits, reports have suggested that a new striker is on Ole Gunnar solskajer‘s radar.
The United boss has watched an exciting triumvirate of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood blossom in recent months but he reportedly wants more.
One striker who is on the market is Cavani, who is a free agent having left Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his contract.
However, he has confirmed talks with Benfica and Saha claims he would have been a fantastic signing for United.
“I think Manchester united are missing a trick by not signing Edinson Cavani this summer,”
“I’ve followed him for many years and I’m gutted there doesn’t seem to be an interest there. For me, Cavani would be the best fit this summer.
“Cavani has a great eye for goal and his leadership would be a great asset. He has qualities that are very difficult to find on the transfer market.”
Uruguay international Cavani has an impeccable record across several of Europe’s biggest competitions.
The 33-year-old scored 128 goals in 200 Ligue 1 games, as well as netting 112 times in 213 Serie A outings.
In the Champions League, meanwhile, he has found the net 35 times in 62 games.
