A Columbian family found their dad, Juan Jose Munoz Romero, 67, awake after bejng declared “dead” the hospital, OYOGist.com reports.
Doctors in the hospital in the city of Sincelejo, Colombia, had declared Mr Romero dead after he earlier suffered high blood pressure.
His family couldn’t believe it and demanded to see him. The hospital, Las Penitas clinic, denied them access stating it was a Coronavirus protocols.
Mr Romero’s daughter then found her way to the hospital’s morgue where she saw her father awake and conscious. The doctors then convinced her that her father was dead and she was only witnessing “natural reactions” after death.
She refused to believe them then moved her father to another hospital where Mr. Romero is still being treated.
Her brother Martin told the local media:
“My sister did not believe that answer and decided to take the body from there and we took him to another clinic. But all that time in the morgue had affected him and he was suffering from ischaemia.”
Ischaemia occurs when when the blood supply to an organ or body part, especially the heart or brain, is too low.
The hospital, Las Penitas clinic nor the local health authorities have commented on the case.
The family plans to take legal actions against the hospital.
