OYOGist.com has learned that an American woman who was held against her wish for over 1 year by a Nigerian man has been rescued by the police. According to reports, the American woman was held in a hotel for months by a man she met on Facebook. The victim is from Washington DC, USA. The victim is a retired civil servant who arrived Nigeria on February, 2019.
The woman came to Nigeria to visit a 34-year-old man named Chukwuebuka Kasi Obiaku. The suspect is from Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State. After meeting with Chukwuebuka, the woman was allegedly held at a hotel in Lagos State for more than 1 year.
The woman was later rescued by some police operatives attached to the Intelligence Response Team, Ogun State Anex. The Policemen rescued the woman after they got some reliable information from a well meaning Nigerian.
According to police report, Chukwuebuka is a graduate of Business Administration and Management. He is also involved in internet fraud. Chukwuebuka have defrauded a lot of unsuspecting individuals, both locally and internationally. Chukwuebuka specializes on love scam. He lured the lady into Nigeria under the pretence that he loved her. Chukwuebuka also deceitfully married the woman.
Chukwuebuka held the woman hostage at a Lagos hotel. He collected her credit card and collected 48,000 dollars from her. Chukwuebuka collected the woman’s retirement benefits for 15 months. Chukwuebuka also used the woman’s connection to defraud other foreign individuals and companies.
The arrest of Chukwuebuka and the subsequent rescue of the American woman was Confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba. He made this known in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja.
