The APC family in Akwa Ibom state had earlier today, called out the president for appointing an unknown party member, Mr. Oboro Akpabio, as an ambassador-designate from the state, oyogist.com reports.
The state publicity secretary of the APC, Nkereuwem Enyongekere, in a statement, made the party’s position known as they also frowned at the president’s pattern of appointments wondering why the party leadership is not taken along when such appointments are made from the state.
In a related response, the presidency bowed to pressure and subsequently withdrew the nomination of the appointee, Oboro Akpabio replacing him with Mr. John J. Usanga
The request for the change was made in a letter written to the Senate on Wednesday from President Muhammadu Buhari for the replacement and confirmation of the ambassador nominees.
The request was made specifically to replace the nomination of Mr. Oboro Effiong Akpabio and Brigadier General Bwala Yusuf Bukar from Akwa-Ibom and Borno State, respectively. With this development, the Akwa Ibom APC has been compensated as the president has heeded to their call.
The party had also noted that if Akpabio was not replaced, it would go a long way of affecting the party’s chances of winning elections come 2023.
The man, Oboro Akpabio according to the state APC, is an unknown person to the party and they even doubt his state of origin.
