OYOGist.com has learned that in the bid to help cushion the effects of Covid 19 on its residents, the Bauchi State Government took this bold step of waiving off tax. This means that no tax will be collected from residents of the State.
This intervention strategy was revealed by Muazu Usman, The Executive Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue Bauchi State Branch during a press briefing yesterday. He stated that the Governor of the State is taking this step in other that the effects of Covid 19 on his people are reduced.
He mentioned that the waivers include: extension of filling of annual returns by employers and the submission of return of income form ‘A’ by taxpayers.
He also mentioned that the the waiver is applicable to hotels, restaurants, transport operators, private schools proprietors who ought to have remitted their dues and those already running late in remitting the Pay As You Earn deductions ‘PAYE’
The waiver also covers late payment of ground rent for 12 months and the late payment of deed registration penalty, starting from 1st January to December 2020.
That the estimated tax billing on traders, market sellers, artisans and all other small scale service providers and the consumption tax on hotels restaurants etc which was to take effect as from this Month, have been postponed to October 2020.
