According to reports reaching OYOGist.com, the Oyo state Deputy Governor Engr. Raufu Olaniyan has spoken to a journalist in the state, Mayor Issac Brown of Fresh FM Ibadan, explaining in details what happened at the Oluyole’s Resident of the immediate past governor of the state who recently died. He also explained what happened to the DSS (Department of State Services) officials that followed him,explaining why he had to wait for their vehicle.
According to Brown who explained on a programme he anchored on Sunday evening, titled “Crossfire”, the Deputy Governor spoke to him on phone shortly before the commencement of the live radio programme, and has given his nod to him to narrate what happened.
According to the Deputy Governor to Governor Seyi Makinde, he had earlier informed the former Attorney General of the state, Barr. Mutalubi Ojo, who is a friend of the Ajimobi’s family that he was going to attend the Fidau prayers as the representative of the state government, and asked him to inform the family.
The Deputy Governor however stated that that when he got to the gate of the resident, he stepped out of his car and was denied entry by security operatives. He stated that contrary to what Bolaji Tunji, the spokesman for the former governor said, he waited for 12 minutes.
In the 12 minutes the deputy governor said he waited, he said he called both the former Attorney General of the state, Barr. Mutalubi Ojo and the head of the Muslim community who were both inside the residence . Both men said he they were helpless.
After 12 minutes, the Deputy Governor said he waited for additional 12 minutes in his car. When no one was forth coming to open the gate, the Deputy Governor decided to leave.
However, after a few kilometers, the Deputy Governor discovered that his DSS details were not following his vehicle. He asked his driver to stop at SUMAL and call to enquire what was happening.
He said he waited for about 15 minutes more before the DSS situation was solved and they joined him at SUMAL.
The Deputy Governor told the journalist that it was when they left and got to Iyaganku that he was called by the former Attorney General, Barr. Mutalubi Ojo that he should return back, and that he was now free to come in. The Deputy Governor said he however refused to go back, adding it was pointless.
According to the Deputy Governor, the police at the gate of Ajimobi residence were rude to him and even told him that they can afford to do whatever they want because they are not under the payroll of the state government but that of the federal government.
