A young woman in Brazil has died from Coronavirus complications after giving birth to her twin boys, OYOGist.com reports.
The woman, Larissa Blanco, was giving birth to her babies Guilherme and Gustavo in a private hospital in Botucatu, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
According to local reports, doctors were performing a caesarian section on Larissa who suffered a massive bleed which caused a cardiac arrest.
Larissa had tested positive for Covid-19 on June 12 and her husband Diego Rodrigues, 24, said she had been showing flu-like symptoms for some days before.
Her husband, Deiego said,
“I was in the surgery room and they were taking the first baby out.
“She saw that wonderful little face and I was really emotional, that was her dream.”
He continues, she gave birth to the second boy after a ‘small complication’.
Diego then took the children out of the ward. This was when Larissa’s health got worse, suffering blood loss, (haemorrhage) and needing blood transfusion.
Diego continued: “She had a haemorrhage and wasn’t managing to pull through.
“After that, she suffered a cardiac arrest and needed a blood transfusion. At around 6 am they told me that she did not pull through and had died.
“The doctor said that because of Covid her body could not take it.”
