Talk of the rich getting richer, and you’d be talking of no one but the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos. Jeff’s net worth just broke his previous record of $167.7 to reach a high of $171.6 billion, OYOGist.com has gathered.
Jeff’s net worth rose when Amazon’s shares jumped by 4.4% to a record $2,878.70 Wednesday. This helped Jeff’s net worth crush the previous record of $167.7 billion in 2018.
The previous record of $167.7 billion was on September 4, 2018, prior to his divorce from his wife MacKenzie Bezos in 2019.
According to Bloomberg Business, Jeff has added a whopping $56.7 billion to his net worth this year alone, even as the US faces the worst economic depression since the Great Depression.
Due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 lockdown measures, millions of Americans have lost their jobs. Amazon, after receiving complaints about ending its hazard pay, said it would spend $500 million to give one-time $500 bonuses to front-line workers.
