The Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba Nedo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has reacted to the ongoing dispute between the governor and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the Benin traditional Council, Frank Irabor on Thursday, the Oba noted that the recent events in the political scene of the state, specifically in the APC, calls for serious concern. He also reiterated his distaste for Godfatherism and imposition of candidates in political parties in the state.
He however stated that the palace of the Oba of Benin would not get embroiled in partisan politics, and warned against dragging the royal father and monarch into the politics of the state.
He said that his prayer is that ” God and our ancestors should give us a governor that will accord respect to traditional institution, develop the state, and provide food on the table for masses, ” while adding that politicians should stop “cashing in on the poor masses, and exploiting them for votes.”
