The Political scope of Edo state has been agog with the news of the defection of Governor Godwin Obaseki to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP ahead of the forthcoming Edo 2020 Gubernatorial elections.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) have reacted to Governor Obaseki’s defection to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that they are not surprised by Obaseki’s decision.
While speaking with journalists in Abuja, Spokesperson of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu reacted to the news.
He said: “It has not come to us as a surprise. We knew he had defected long ago because he resigned his membership of the party which we have accepted. So you can’t defect twice. So if he is defecting again, we don’t know whether what he has just done now is news any longer.”
Recall that Obaseki was disqualified by the APC in the Party’s primaries due to alleged discrepancies in his certificates.
