The last has not been heard of the political fight between the embattled governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and his erstwhile godfather and the national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole.

Last weekend, the governor was screened out on account of him having a forged certificate from the University of Ibadan and also inconsistencies on account of his name on the NYSC certificate.

The certificate had ‘Obasek’ instead of Obaseki and for the APC, recalling the incidence of Bayelsa state where they had to lose out because of a certificate scandal, they had to be very careful hence the decision to edge out Obaseki.

Also, the brewing fight between the governor and Oshiomole had gotten to its peak and loyalty had failed as the incumbent was determined to get to the exalted position for a second term with or without the help of the godfather. Subsequently, he was chased out of the system as the screening committee disqualified him.

Reacting, the governor of rivers state, Nyesom Wike who is in the PDP, wondered how someone without a certificate would disqualify someone else who had a certificate.

Wike, in his now viral speech, had called the Nigerian Governors forum a forum of beggars for not being able to help out one of their own in times of trouble.

However, Adams Oshimole’s certificate has been circulating online and it shows that the former governor of Edo state and the chairman of the APC actually went to an adult evening school in ABU, Zaria in 1973/74.

According to the certificate, the attendance was an evening school on Trade Union Organization. But taking a look at his profile on Wikipedia, he joined the Kaduna textile company and became a full-fledged labor organizer in 1975, which is the following year after he finished the evening school.
