Godswill Ekpolo has revealed that training with Barcelona first-team stars such as Lionel Messi, Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, and Gerard Piqué became a chunk uninteresting because he was not allowed to tackle the top players.
The former Nigeria U23 right-back, who commenced his profession as a midfielder, was on the books of Barcelona for eleven years before he was released in 2016.
Ekpolo was a key member of the Barcelona side that gained the UEFA Youth League in 2014, he was often invited to train with the senior team however departed the Camp Nou aspect without playing a reliable game for the Spanish giants.
Whilst asked to share his experience of training with Messi, Iniesta, Pique, Busquets he stated: “For me, from my perspective: a piece uninteresting. Sure, you couldn’t be tackled! You had to leave. They didn’t deliver us a lot of freedom.
“If I had to harm any of them they may have broken my agreement. Glaringly it was a great experience to see Messi, Iniesta, but I need the freedom to play”.
After he left Barcelona, he played for Fleetwood town and Mérida AD, earlier than joining Swedish club BK Hacken, for whom he has made 49 appearances scoring 2 goals.
