The recent killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man by police in Minneapolis has sparked weeks of protests in the country and around the world.
In a show of solidarity toward the Black Lives Matter movement and to make their stance on systemic racism in America known, BTS decided to donate a whopping $1 million dollars towards the initiative.
The announcement was made on Saturday by Bit Hit Entertainment, which manages BTS, according to Yonhap news agency.
Upon catching wind of the donation, the fans of the group, known as ARMY decided to make the hashtag #MatchAMillion trend on Twitter to raise another $1 million and match the band’s donation.
