30 Positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in Oyo as community-based testing commences

Oyo State has recorded 30 new confirmed positive COVID-19 cases on the 6th of June, 2020, after the state government began community-based testing, OYOGist.com has gathered.

The Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, made the announcement on Sunday the 7th of June in his daily COVID-19 Task Force Update on Twitter.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty suspected cases came back POSITIVE,” Governor Seyi Makinde announced on Twitter.

“The cases are from Ibadan SE (11), Oluyole (8), Ibadan North (6), Lagelu (2), Akinyele (1), Ibadan SW (1) and Ibadan NE (1) LGAs. So the total confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 364,” the Governor revealed.

He further revealed that the thirty confirmed cases are results from the five community-based testing centres recently activated.

“This confirms community spread and reuires strict adherence to the guidelines on social distancing, wearing of face masks in public and proper hygienic practices,” Governor Seyi Makinde further advised.
