Protesters and police are clashing in the city of Denver, where thousands of people have gathered in a call for justice over the death of George Floyd, who died when he was pinned down by a Minneapolis police officer. Fireworks were set off from within the crowd, while police used tear gas to try and disperse them. Earlier in the day shots were fired among the protesters and a car was seen appearing to deliberately chase some down.
Meanwhile in New York City dozens of protesters have been arrested.
Following protests in Minneapolis over the death of George Floyd, a Black man who suffocated when he was handcuffed and pinned to the ground by a Minneapolis police officer on May 26, thousands in New York City took to the streets in a call for justice. Dozens of arrests were made by the NYPD as huge crowds took Union Square and City Hall.
Meanwhile, Police precinct set alight amid protests in Minneapolis
Police officers of the 3rd Precinct in Minneapolis retreated from the site as protesters converged on it on Thursday evening, local time. A short time later a fire was started in the car park and quickly spread to the precinct, which has since gone up in flames. Thousands of people are protesting across the country demanding justice for George Floyd, a Black man who died when he was pinned to the ground by a Minneapolis police officer.
