At the commencement of programme, the programme was under the vice president’s office before it was moved to the newly created ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
The programme has however in recent time suffered from late payment of stipends. The increment in the new minimum wage of the country also has no effect on the stipend as the beneficiaries continue to collect the old stipend which was created during the era of the old minimum wage in the country.
This has made Corps members under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to be earning much more than the beneficiaries, though the ministry seems uninterested in making adjustments.
