OYOGist.com has learned that the Federal Government has vowed to dismiss any civil or public servants found in the habit of revealing official documents on the social media. The Government described the leakage of government official documents on the social media by people working in its offices as embarrassing.
According to reports, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, (HOS) Dr Folasade Yemi–Esan, warned officers in a circular made public on Monday by Olawunmi Ogunmosunle, who is the Director of Information.

According to the Head of Service, some documents that have been minuted on also find their ways to the social media. Yemi-Esan said such leakages are unfortunate and unauthorised. She added that the action is irresponsible and reckless, adding that it is an act of serious misconduct.
According to her, the misconduct attracts a a penalty of dismissal from service. This, it was learnt, was as provided for in the Public Service Rules Nos. 030401 and 030402.
Having said the situation is embarrassing to government, the Head of Service said it is unacceptable, adding that any public officer caught in the act would be severely dealt with, in accordance with the provisions of the Public Service Rules. Permanent Secretaries have also been told to draw the attention of their staff to the circular and the consequences of breaking the rules.
