The Governor said the piece of information which has been in circulation in several news blogs attributed the wrong information that he relaxed the ban that was placed on places of worship such as churches, mosques or any religious gatherings to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus in the state.
The Governor clarified that the decision on how to move forward with the ban on religious gathering would be determined by the report of a “risk situation analysis” being carried out by experts.
“A statement is circulating in the Press purportedly from me, stating that we have lifted the restrictions on social distancing regarding places of worship including mosques and churches. This information is FALSE and should be completely disregarded,” Governor Makinde tweeted.
“As I stated in my press briefing on May 18, 2020, the experts are carrying out a risk situational analysis and we will communicate whatever decisions are reached through our Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force Press briefings in due course.”
