The US top physician and immunologist who has been advising President Trump since the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus has warned of needless suffering and deaths should the US reopen too soon, OYOGist.com has learned.
Dr Anthony Fauci is the Director of US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Anthony Fauci delivered the grim warning on Tuesday while testifying via a video conference at a Senate hearing.
“My concern is that if some areas, city, states or what have you, jump over those various checkpoints and prematurely open up without having the capability of being able to respond effectively and efficiently, my concern is that we will start to see little spikes that might turn into outbreaks,” Dr Anthony Fauci said.
This is coming as President Trump has pushed for the US economy to reopen, and has declared that the United States has “prevailed” over the coronavirus battle.
The US now has over 1.3M confirmed COVID-19 cases according to the CDC, with more than 78,000 deaths – the highest in the world.
