President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed the former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari CFR as his new Chief of Staff, OYOGist.com reports.
Prof Ibrahim Agboola will be replacing the late Abba Kyari in overseeing critical official and personal duties which includes managing communication between His Excellency and his cabinet.
About Prof Ibrahim Agboola Gambarii CFR
A scholar and diplomat, Prof Ibrahim was born in Ilorin, Kwara State in November 24, 1944. He served as the Minister for External Affairs between 1984 and 1985.
The well-versed diplomat was the first Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary General on Africa (serving between 1999 to 2005) at the United Nations. Prof Ibrahim also worked, during the same time as the Adviser to the Secretary General on Africa, as the Resident Special Representative to the Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Mission to Angola between 2002 to 2003.
The United Nations referred to Prof. Ibrahim Gambari as a think-tank for research, training and public policy debate on the connection between diplomacy in conflict resolution.
