A viral post shared on Twitter detailed how a shawarma shop owner was arrested by a staff of the Economics and Financial Crimes Commissions (EFCC) Makurdi over N1600 shawarma, OYOGist.com reports.
According to the user’s account, and videos showing the event that transpired when the EFCC staff effected the arrest of the owner of Star Shawarma, Mneno Anita Ato, and her entire staff over a payment of N1600 (one thousand six hundred naira) that was not noticed on time.
According to the report, the EFCC staff, named as Hembafan Toryila made a purchase valued at 1500 naira and sent the sum of N1600 via bank transfer, but the operators of Star Shawarma kept on calling her to make the payment as they have not received a deposit of N1500.
The staff of Star Shawarma was said to have believed the N1600 sent was for another customer’s purchase, but later discovered that is was sent by Hembafan Toryila.
They reportedly called to apologize and inform her that the payment had been received, however Hembafan Toryila wasn’t having it and vowed to “deal with them.”

The user also shared a copy of the charge sheet accompanying the case at the EFCC Makurdi zone.
