The Head of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force, Governor Seyi Makinde has reported the first COVID-19-related death to be recorded in Oyo State after a positive case died in the state, OYOGist.com has gathered.
The Governor, during his daily COVID-19 Task Force update on Wednesday the 22nd of April revealed that a patient who displayed symptoms of the disease tested positive to COVID-19. He died before his result came back.
The patient was reported to have died at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan.
The Governor further revealed that contact tracing has begun.
“The COVID-19 confirmation test for one suspected case came back POSITIVE. The patient died at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, before his result came out today. Contact tracing has already commenced,” Governor Seyi Makinde shared on Wednesday.
Oyo State currently has 17 confirmed Coronavirus cases, with 1 death and 11 recoveries. According to Governor Seyi Makinde, there are 5 active cases in Oyo State, after 1 case was transferred to Lagos.
