The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force, led by State Governor, Seyi Makinde, announced on Tuesday, 7th of April, the emergence of two new confirmed coronavirus cases in the state, OYOGist.com has gathered.
The Governor made the announcement in one of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force daily updates which he shared on his social media platforms.
He revealed that the COVID-19 test carried out on two suspected cases had returned positive on Tuesday. One, a 28-year-old female is a returnee from the United Arab Emirates.
“The COVID-19 confirmation test for two suspected cases came back POSITIVE, today. One of the new cases is a 28-year-old woman who returned to the country from the United Arab Emirates on March 22, 2020,” Seyi Makinde posted on Twitter.
The Governor revealed that the second case is a 42-year-old man who had contact with an earlier Coronavirus patient.
“The second case is a 42-year-old man who is a contact of an earlier confirmed COVID-19 case.”
The Governor further revealed that efforts are already being made to trace the contacts of the positive patients, while they have commenced isolation.
