Manchester United remain “confident” that they can lure Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford this summer – despite the coronavirus pandemic halting negotiations with the Borussia Dortmund star.
Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified Sancho – who celebrates his 20th birthday on Wednesday – as his No.1 target this summer, though he is believed to face competition from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
However there is a feeling at Old Trafford that if they get Champions League football they will get their man.
But the deadly coronavirus crisis, which has wreaked havoc all over the globe, has made transfer talks between United and Dortmund tricky, with both the English and German leagues currently suspended.
That hasn’t stopped United from pursuing their interest, though, and there is an expectation that they can get the deal done despite the uncertainty regarding this season’s remaining fixtures.
Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who broke news about United’s deal for Harry Maguire, recently spoke about the potential deal on Instagram, according to the Metro.

He said: ” Manchester United have been in contact with Jadon Sancho’s agent for two months and are working on his contract.
“The coronavirus pandemic is making it hard to communicate with Borussia Dortmund. United are confident.”
Sancho has been in superb form again this season, with the player scoring 17 goals and creating 17 assists in all competitions for the Bundesliga side.
It is thought Dortmund would be willing to let Sancho go if they receive an offer they can’t refuse, and they value the 20-year-old at around £130m.
United and PSG could therefore be set for a bidding war for Sancho, who is one of the most highly-sought after young players in the world.
Liverpool have also been linked with a swoop for Sancho in recent months, but it is understood Jurgen Klopp is prioritising a move for RB Leipzig star Timo Werner.
