Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to reject the request of the EFCC.
Dr. Bukola Saraki has asked the court to reject the case filed by the EFCC, demanding that his house in Ilorin , Kwara, be transferred to the federal government.
Bukola Saraki told the court that she should not use the public speculation that these houses were being built with illegal property to seize his property.
The lawyer who represents Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), has appealed to the court to ask the EFCC officials to produce evidence that supports her allegations.
Bukola’s lawyer Saraki Kehinde Ogunwumiju said the EFCC needed to produce satisfactory evidence before the house could be permanently destroyed.
The lawyer defending the former governor of Kwara told Judge Rilwan Aikawa that the EFCC had not brought any evidence that would enable the homeowner to be arraigned.
Saraki also spoke through his spokesman, Yusuph Olaniyonu, who stated that the houses were not built in the public square.
According to the EFCC, Saraki stole 10 billion from Kwara’s account during his tenure as governor, which he said was used to finance the construction of the houses.
