In a new development in the case brought against activist and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore and his friend Olawale Bakare, by Nigerian Government, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwo of the Federal High Court Abuja has ordered the Federal Government of Nigeria to pay N200,000 each to the defendants.
Sahara Reporters has revealed that the judge made the ruling owing to the “sloppiness” of the prosecuting counsel’s representative, one A. Aliyu, who is standing in for the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The report said Aliyu tried to slow down the proceedings and further delay the commencement of the trial proper by introducing several false statements.
