A lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has just been accused of pressuring several of his female students into having sex with him in exchange for improving their grades.
This is coming months after a BBC reporter, Kiki Mordi, exposed several lecturers from both the University of Lagos and the University of Ghana for engaging in the illegal act with their female students, and just days after OAU placed another lecturer on half pay for being investigated for sexual misconduct.
Motunrayo Afolayan, a 400-level student of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Business Admin, OAU, has just accused her lecturer Olabisi Olaleye.
The institution said it has launched an investigation into the case and the lecturer has been placed on half-pay.
Motunrayo reported the lecturer, Olabisi Olaleye of failing her because she rejected his sexual advances.
On Wednesday, PUNCH called the school to confirm the report. The school’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju said a panel had been set up to investigate the activities of the lecturer and confirm the legitimacy of the student’s claim.
He, Olanrewaju, further confirmed that Olabisi had been placed on half-pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
