American mega-successful actor and former WWE pro-wrestler, Dwayne The Rock Johnson, has just lost his dad, Rocky Johnson also a former pro-wrestler. Rocky Johnson passed on at the age of 75.

The Rock and his late father Rocky Johnson enjoyed a close relationship. Rocky Johnson was WWE wrestling champion at his prime and also helped train his son The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, after his retirement. The Rock went on to become a successful WWE athlete and Hollywood superstar.

Rocky Johnson, whose real name was Wayde Bowles, was announced dead on Wednesday by the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). There are currently no details on the cause of his death.

As of filing this report, The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, is yet to announce the news of the death of his father on any of his social media networks.

Rocky Johnson started wrestling in the year 1960. He performed with the National Wrestling Alliance and later went on to become an athlete with the WWE in 1983, according to the statement released by WWE. WWE was then known as the World Wrestling Federation.

He was known then as THe Soul Man. He retired in 1991 but continued to play a role in WWE by training his son, who would later become the hugely successful The Rock – a pro wrestler and smash-hit movie maker.

“The ‘Soul Man’ retired from the ring in 1991, but his imprint continued to be felt on WWE for years to come,” said WWE in the statement. “Post-retirement, Johnson had a hand in training his son, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”

Thanks to The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, his late father, Rocky Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2008.

The Rock is the star of several successful films such as “Moana,” “The Skyscraper” and some installments of “Fast and Furious” and “Jumanji”
