Governor Ganduje, the current Governor of Kano state recently passed a law that prohibits people of the opposite riding in a tricycle together in the state.
The ban was placed on Wednesday, December 25. Tricycles are popularly known as Keke in Nigeria.
The ban was announced by the Commander-General of Hisbah Board, Harun Ibn-Sina at the rounding up ceremony of the 77th annual Islamic Vacation Course that was organized by the Zone A of Muslim Society of Nigeria. The event held at Bayero University, Kano.
The ban will take effect in January 2020.
According to reports, tricycles were introduced by the former governor of the state, Mr Ibrahim Shekarau. The tricycle was introduced as a transportation means for women the state after a ban was placed on women riding on commercial motorcycles.
