The bribery case against the current sitting governor of Kano State, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, which seeks an order compelling the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the governor has been dismissed.
Bulama Bukarti, a Kano-based lawyer had brought the case to the Federal High Court sitting in Kano. The court dismissed the case for lacking evidence.
Bulama approached the court to seek an order that will compel the EFCC to release the report for the analysis of its forensic investigation into a video that allegedly shows the Governor collecting kickbacks from a contractor.
According to TheNationaOnline, Justice Egwuatu dismissed the case on the grounds that the evidence before the court did not show that EFCC was in possession of the analysis of the forensic analysis of the alleged bribery video. The judge noted that the report should be given to the Kano State House of Assembly ad-hoc committee created to investigate the matter.
