According to report reacging oyogist.com, Abass Aleshinloye, the Chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has replied Governor Seyi Makinde saying there is no need for the reinstated Chairmen to approach the Supreme Court for an interpretation of its judgement which asked the Oyo State Government to pay the Chairmen their salary.

Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde had at a function recently asked the Chairmen to seek some clarification about who qualifies to be paid among them from the Supreme Court stressing that the 1999 Constitution as amended only recognizes 33 local government Councils.

In the words of the Governor, “when we go for JAC, we are only paid for 33 local governments”.

But speaking via the telephone with Aanuoluwapo Omorinde on BOTTOM LINE – a political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan today monitored, by Insideoyo.com, Aleshinloye described the development as an interesting drama.

“Why do we need to approach the court? The judgement is explicit. We don’t want to join issues with the Governor. We are waiting for the date specified by the Supreme Court” he stated.

“Is it not laughable that a Governor who has earlier said he will obey the Supreme Court judgement is making a u-turn? I don’t want to speak too much. Let’s wait and see but it is an interesting drama”.
