LG Election: Abia State Govt Declares December 18 Public Holiday

OYOGist.com has learned that the Abia State Government has declared Friday, 18th of December, 2020, a state public holiday as a result of the forthcoming Local Government elections in the state.

This was made known in a statement released on Wednesday by the Abia state Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, who also stated that the movement of persons and goods would be restricted starting from Thursday, 17th December, 2020.

He noted that the only sect of people who would be permitted by the state government to move from one place to another will be the staffs of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), security agents, media practitioners and other relevant officials.

He also used the medium in urging and appealing to the good people of Abia state to ensure the maintenance of law and order in the state, as well as shunning all forms of violence during the forthcoming election.
