Nigerian minister blames Nigerians for economic misfortune

OYOGist.com has learned that the minister of Mines and steel Development, Mr. Olamilekan Adegbite has reportedly faulted Nigerians for the country’s misfortune stating that the Nigerians appetite for foreign goods is the cause of the economic misfortune plaguing the country.

Mr. Olanilekan made this known while speaking to some of the Nigerian yoúths at Ijebu-Ode where he also blamed the country’s increasing population for the growing poverty in the country.

“All the textile industries in the country have collapsed because there is no raw material from cotton production again. Our industrial estates are all gone.”

“Churches and mosques are growing, but our industries are collapsing. Churches and mosques that don’t pay taxes and that don’t employ anybody are replacing our industries.”

“We are all to be blamed for this. We no longer patronise things locally made in Nigeria, our appetite for foreign goods have destroyed our economy.”

The minister also stressed the need for Nigerians to go back to the Agricultural system as he strongly claimed that the country’s appetite for European finished products have destroyed the economy of the country.

“We must all go back home and face reality. Our food production has drastically decreased as our population is growing at a high rate.”

Mr. Olamilekan reiterated the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration commitment towards diversifying the economy of Nigerian through the aid of the agricultural sector.
