INTERPOL Arrests Three (3) Nigerians For Cyber Crime

According to report reaching oyogist.com, the International Police Organisation (INTERPOL) have arrested three Nigerians for their alleged involvement in cyber related fraud targeting government agencies along with private firms in over 150 countries.

The arrest was initiated through a joint operation which comprises of INTERPOL, a cyber security company (Group-IB), and the Nigeria Police Force, in a covert operation tagged Operation Falcon.

According to a statement from INTERPOL, the organization stated that “the suspects are alleged to have developed phishing links, domains, and mass mailing campaigns in which they impersonated representatives of organisations.”

INTERPOL also stated that the cyber gang use the guise of their internet campaign to circulate 26 malware programmes, spyware, and remote access tools, which includes AgentTesla, Loki, Azorult, Spartan, and the nanocore and Remcos Remote Access Trojans which is then used to infect and monitor their victim organizations so as to defraud them.

The cyber security company, Group-IB in a statement noted that some other cyber gangs whose activities have been tracked down by the company, have been shared with the INTERPOL’s Cybercrime Directorate as investigations continue.
