Abeokuta, the Ogun capital is to profit from British Government’s “Future City Programmme” that might transform it into a sensible city.

The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who made this known at the Thanksgiving Service to mark the 15th Coronation Anniversary of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, held at the Cathedral Church of St. Peters, Ake, Abeokuta, disclosed that
his Administration would still give the capital all the eye it deserves.

“We bidded among numerous countries then many nations to British Government. the govt involved what requires us to nominate cities for what they called ‘the Future Cities Programme,’ and Ogun State nominated Abeokuta.

“In the whole Country and therefore the Continent, only 19 cities were chosen; and in Nigeria, only Abeokuta and Lagos were chosen for the programme – one being championed by the British Government,” he said.

Governor Abiodun noted that his administration wouldn’t abandon projects left behind by the last administration, however insisting that only people who have direct impact on the people would be completed.

He listed a number of the finished road projects within the capital city to incorporate Fajol-American-Gbonagun… Road, while the Oke Lantoro-Elite, Panseke-Adigbe, and Kuto-NNPC roads, also because the Abeokuta-Sagamu and Ijoko-Ota to Isheri roads were mentioned as ongoing.

“I am proud to mention that we’ve also kept that commitment that any project that has any clear line of service and benefit to our people will always tend priority. that’s why the hitherto abandoned model school in Kobape is now the tech hub an equivalent way I even have energised the completion of Panseke-Adigbe Road, ditto for Kuto road from NNPC, whilst we’ve initiated new projects to form Abeokuta a deserving capital and a moderb city,” he said.

The Governor, who also said that his Administration would remain committed to the equitable and fair development and distribution of amenities to all or any parts of the State, noted that he would go away the State better than he met it.

The Governor described the Monarch as an impartial ruler who served his father meritoriously within the Military, adding that he’s not only a blessing to Egbaland, but a task model to this and future generations and a father to all or any .

In his sermon, the Diocesan Bishop, Lagos Mainland, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Church , Rt. Rev. Akinpelu Johnson, said the Oba was anointed by God to serve his people and thus must do what was right to all or any manner of individuals in the least times.
