According to report reaching OYOGist.com, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu has vowed that the police will carry out a discreet investigation to fish out the killers of one corporal Etega Stanley who was killed by protesters calling for the end of SARS in Ughelli, Delta State.

The protests going on against police brutality across Nigeria took a different dimension yesterday as protesters carried out a retaliatory attack on a mobile policeman after one of the protesters was shot and injured.

Nigerians have been protesting against the inhumane treatment of several Nigerians, especially the youths, by men of the Nigeria police force and those of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit.

The fury of protests which have been backed by notable Nigerian celebrities like Falz, Runtown, Tiwa Savage, Mr Macaroni, etc, have been aimed at getting the government to put an end to the numerous acts of police brutality metted out on innocent and law abiding citizens.

However, some of those protests have not gone peacefully at all. Just the other day, a SARS official was attacked and his phone stolen when the men came in contact with EndSars Protesters in Warri, Delta State. In the same vein, some SARS officials were also beaten in Computer Village in Lagos, Nigeria.

The slain Corporal Etega Stanley was said to have been killed in retaliation after a young protester was allegedly shot in the leg by men of the Nigerian police, while he protested. According to the statement released today by the Inspector General of Police, the protesters did not just stop at killing the police Corporal, they also made away with his AK-47 riffle and about 25 live ammunition.

It was revealed that another policeman, sustained varying degrees of injuries from gunshots by the protesters.

Following the killing of the policeman, the IGP has warned that the police force will embark on a discreet investigation that will enable them fish out the killers of one of the own.

He warned that even though it is within the citizen’s rights to hold the government accountable through protests, they should however refrain from carrying out attacks on police men who are sent to see that the protests conform to security guidelines.
