The governor of Lagos State has Cancelled the parade which was supposed to old on Independence Day in Lagos. This was made known through the statement by Gbenga Omotoso who is the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy. Also cancelled is any gathering that will lead to more than 50 persons at a time, oyogist.com reports.
Gbenga Omotoso quoted the governor of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urging Legosians not to relax their efforts in making sure that they keep to all the measures to avoid COVID-19 and prevent it.
The statement said: “Governor Sanwo-Oludirected that the planned parade and other activities that involve the gathering of more than 50 people were cancelled”.
Lagos State Government however opted that the people of the state should consider celebrating Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary in a low key. This is because of the COVID-19 in the land.
To ensure compliance, the governor has involved security operatives.
